May 2009 Statistics

Statistics for the month of May 2009 show that while it is clear that the problems plaguing the real estate market have not vanished, some areas seem to be trending in a positive direction.

The total number of documents recorded in May 2009 was 13,811, down from 14,057 in May 2008. The number of deeds recorded dropped 17%, from 1404 to 1172. However, the number of mortgages increased by 23%, from 2735 to 3362. Most notably, the number of foreclosure deeds dropped dramatically from 228 in May 2008 to 84 in May 2009, a decrease of 63%.

These statistics seem to match a similar trend in other districts of the Commonwealth. For a report of May statistics for the Middlesex North District, click here.
